PRINCE (NOT)CHARMING

Have you ever wondered how it is to be a Prince of Wales and future King of Great Britain? How would your life look like if you were the second most important person in the whole country, having no responsibilities, but hundreds of servants waiting for your every wish to fulfill? Well, all of this was possible when you were born in XVIIIth century as the oldest son of King George III, an heir to the throne and the future King George IV, for example. Your life could be so wonderful fairy tale, but what if you become a living nightmare instead of Prince Charming?

As a child you seem to be a little angel, with fair hair and sweet face. Soon it turns out to be only a beautiful cover of a bad book telling the story of a pathetic protagonist. Your life isn’t perfect of course, you have some very serious problems, like how to marry your lover, that your dad doesn’t really like, or how to pay your (enormous) bills on your own after marrying her after all. Come on, you can’t just look for a job and someone must pay for your extremely extravagant lifestyle, expensive clothes, balls, parties, tones of food, hectolitres of alcohol and of course some furniture and paintings to make your life beautiful. But, as everyone knows, if you try hard enough, you will certainly find the right solution, like sending your illegal wife away and coming back to your father, pretending you are filled with remorse, feel sorry and intend to change. That is indeed a very small sacrifice for paying off your debts and getting some more hundreds of pounds for the most basic needs, like, let’s say, new palace at the seaside.

Now, happy and free again, you can fully enjoy your fantastic life, unless something unexpected happen, like your father, The King, going mad. ‘Everyone has some worse days sometimes’, you may say, but being the king, who is talking to trees is rather a problem, so it’s time for you to step up as a real and one and only Prince Regent. That can make your life a bit more complicated, as you have to unfortunately do something you hate the most of all – work. King’s duties can be so incredibly boring and demanding. You barely find time for partying and meeting your mistresses. Becoming Prince Regent and then the king should make you put the State’s and your subjects’ good on first place, but you are too self – concentrated to even think about this silly things. Of course you try to make an impression of good and modern ruler, commissioning building of the National Gallery, but in fact you don’t really care what your people think about you. Maybe you’ve heard some rumours that they hate and despise you, but it is impossible – you are perfect, so how can they not to love and admire you?

But the worst is still to come, because you are going to become king one day and that day is getting closer. Your main duty sadly cannot be performed on your own – you need a wife to make sure your dynasty won’t die with you. But it cannot be any wife, only specially chosen candidate from aristocratic family and your cousin in one person. It can end up only in two ways – with great everlasting love or… great everlasting hatred… Scandals, secret lovers, marriages, divorces, addictions, great affairs and small intrigues – you can learn more joining The Royal Secrets Tour.
